6 Things Brides Wish They Had the Day-Of Their Wedding

We are in the business of making brides happy. We’ve seen it all, we’ve heard it all, and we’ve researched it all. We are here to help you think of all the nitty gritty details, so you don’t have to! Here are some of the top things that brides wish they would have thought about for the day-of their wedding.

A Place to Retreat
With the whole bridal party and family members gathered together in one place the morning of the wedding, things have a tendency to be a little… shall we call it, “high energy.” Have a place or room that you can go to if you need some space to yourself, or need a moment to just take everything in, breathe, reset. Some of the most relaxing times we’ve seen while working are when there are only 3-4 people (besides us artists) in the getting ready space at one time. On the other hand, some brides love keeping the party going and having everyone together. It’s all up to you, but make sure you have the opportunity to step away from it all if need be.

Food
You’ve probably heard countless stories of brides who didn’t eat anything until the reception (and even then, you’re busy greeting guests, so you might not get to eat). Don’t be one of them! It’s important to sustain your body for this wonderful and demanding day. Starting with breakfast while hair and makeup is getting done, providing lunch or providing enough time for bridesmaids to buy or have lunch delivered (they will thank you!), and also having snacks on hand. Nobody wants a bout of hanger or low blood sugar on the day of a wedding! Just as important as food, always make sure you have water readily available to you. Whether you have a flat of water bottles, or you carry a refillable bottle around with you leading up to the ceremony – stay hydrated!

Emergency Kit/Extra Supplies
The number one thing we’ve seen people rushing around in-need-of the morning of a wedding is… can you guess it?… Scissors! Some items that might become very important are: scissors, sewing kit, safety pins, q-tips, tissues, blotting tissues for makeup, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, pen and paper, band-aids, moleskin product for blisters, tide-to-go or stain remover, extra bobby pins, travel hairspray (you can ask your artist for a recommended brand!), and lipstick/lipgloss to touch up with throughout the day (discuss this with your artist at your trial run!)

Help
Most brides designate a family member or friend to be a personal attendant. Make sure you have a reliable loved-one who is willing to be at your beck and call for all the little things that come up. Having family members and friends who aren’t in the wedding party who are willing to help with any necessary setup is a huge blessing as well.

Day of Coordinator

Another thing we’ve found a ton of value in is a day-of coordinator someone who is in charge of making sure each vendor is where they need to be at the correct time, keeps the timeline for the day moving along, and is an all around go-to person to answer questions and solve problems
(so that it doesn’t all fall on your shoulders!) We offer day-of coordinating services and would love to be able to be with you on your special day to shoulder these burdens for you so you get to just relax and enjoy.

Comfort Items
This might literally mean comfy clothes- it’s your day to be pampered and you want to feel comfortable during the time leading up to wearing your gorgeous formal gown. It might mean having your dog or pet with you as you get ready. It might mean having a certain snack or beverage that you love. It might mean having a picture of your grandma who passed away, on the table where you’re getting ready and devoting a moment to remembering her. One of my grandmas passed away when I was 6 years old. My mom has always had this gorgeous mirror of hers hanging in our house, and it meant a lot to me that I could use it for getting ready the morning of my wedding!

It might mean wearing a piece of jewelry that means a lot to you. You know what brings you the most comfort and joy… make sure to make yourself feel comfortable and special on your big day!
