Where did the summer go? Fall has snuck up on us and it hardly seems possible. Kids are back in school and hopefully life has settled down some from the business of summer.
With the coming of fall and the changing of seasons, it is the perfect time to revamp your skincare regimen. It’s time to correct and undo all that the summer sun has done to the skin, it’s time exfoliate all the dead skin and reveal that fresh beautiful glow.
The best place to start is by getting back to the basics. Make a daily commitment to take care of your skin. Make your skin a priority. Your later self will thank you for it!
Cleansing is one of the first steps toward beautiful skin. Without proper cleansing and without professional homecare products the skin can not be healed or made whole.
It is recommended to cleanse for at least one minute and if you wear makeup double cleanse in the evening. Using the right cleanser for your skin type is vital. If you are dry and tight after you cleanse that particular cleanser is not the right fit for your skin.
Personally I have about 4 cleansers that I switch out depending on my skin. I love using the Oil Cleansing Method at least a couple of times a week. From there I look at my skin and assess what type of cleanser is needed. If it feels a little dry I use my Creamy Cleanser and if I feel like it needs a deeper cleanse I use either the Green Tea or Glycolic. cleanser. Cleansing is the first critical step toward beautiful skin.
~ A gentle exfoliator is a must for your skin. It exfoliates the dead skin cells, plus allows the other treatment serums to penetrate more readily. All I use is Skin Scripts Retinol Scrub. It’s gentle yet powerful and gets the job done. I leave it in the shower so it’s convenient and easy to use.
~ Toner – Toner restores the pH of the skin and preps your skin to receive all the active ingredients and helps them effectively penetrate. When your skin is still damp from the toner apply the treatment serums.
~ Serums are one of your best friends. Serums will bring about the greatest transformation to your skin. If you deal with acne, sun-damage, hyper-pigmentation or if your skin needs brightening or resurfacing you don’t want to miss this step. Since serums are very concentrated and active it is best to see your Licensed Esthetician to find out what your skin needs are and to make sure you follow directions precisely to bring about the greatest change.
~ Moisturizer is crucial for beautiful glowing skin. All skin, even oily, needs to be hydrated and moisturized. Especially now that we have entered in to the fall weather and soon to be winter your skin will be looking for hydration and moisture. For younger looking skin this is key!
~Sunscreen – Over 85% of aging skin is caused by the sun and environmental factor. If you desire to age gracefully protect your skin. Wear it daily winter, summer, spring and fall. When its raining, cloudy or sunshiny. Find a sunscreen with active ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide for the best protection.
