Summer Skin Protection
Should you exfoliate more or less during the summer months?
As we all know the sun wrecks havoc on our skin, which is why we need to be careful how much we exfoliate and especially during the hot summer months.
Exfoliation is removing dry surface cells either through chemical peels, scrubs, washcloths, enzymes etc…yes exfoliation is a must for beautiful skin and is necessary.
Yet, is there such a thing as too much exfoliation?
Personally I will not preform chemical peels during the summer months. Light enzyme peels work incredibly well and are prefect for this time of year.
If you spend a lot of time outdoors you need to be careful. Exfoliation increases your sun sensitivity by at least 45% because some of the protective layers are removed during the exfoliation process.
Your skin is even more sensitive to the other elements as well such as wind and heat.
During these months we need to focus more on protecting our skin from the inside out! Consume antioxidant loaded foods, supplement with vitamins and use topical active serums that protect your skin.
Obviously using a fantastic sunscreen is a must…again Image Sunscreen is my absolute fav.
Here are some of my favorite serums that provide nourishment and protection for your skin.
- Skin Scripts 15% Vitamin C/Green Tea Serum
- Rhonda Allison C-Peptide Complex
- Rhonda Allison Antioxidant Complex Serum
- Skin Scripts Ageless Skin Hydrating Serum
- Rhonda Allison Growth Factor Serum Plus
- Nature’s Genesis Reparative Anti-Aging Serum
Here’s to an amazing summer.
