What is Lurking in your Makeup Brushes?
What spreads germs and bacteria faster than a flying bullet, faster than the speed of light?
Makeup Brushes!
When is the last time you washed your makeup brushes? If you’re like most it’s probably been a while.
Makeup brushes don’t just collect makeup, but they pick up body oils, dust, and dead skin. If you are acne prone this could be one of the culprits that are contributing to your breakouts.
Dirty brushes can actually lead to infections and cause skin problems: first and foremost, acne. Deep cleaning your brushes is a must for everyone, but for those dealing with acne this must be a priority.
Dirty brushes not only spread bacteria but also affect the life of your brushes and your makeup which is why brushes need to be cleaned at least once a week and need to be deep cleaned.
Here is a very simple quick way to clean your brushes:
- Mix your daily shampoo with warm water in a bowl
- Dip brushes into the bowl
- Massage into the bristles
- Rinse with warm water
- Squeeze out the excess water
- Lay flat to dry on towels periodically re-shaping your brushes
It’s become a habit for me to clean my makeup brushes weekly and it only takes a few minutes of my day. As you can see, it is time well spent.
Make your day Beautiful!
